A four-man gang which allegedly manufactures firearms (dane guns) at Zungeru in Wushishi local government area, Niger, has been arrested by the state’s Police Command.
- A member of the gang, Badamasi Umar, said people from other parts of the state and country order his guns

A four-man gang which allegedly manufactures firearms (dane guns) at Zungeru in Wushishi local government area, Niger, has been arrested by the state’s Police Command.
According to The Nation, the suspects include 40-year-old Isyaku Madaki, 40-year-old Kabiru Tukura, 45-year-old Adamu Aliyu and 54-year-old Badamasi Umar.
It was gather that the oldest person in the group, Badamasi Umar, said he had been in the business for four years, and his guns were ordered by people from other parts of the state and the country.
He stated: “I’m known in my area as someone who manufactures local guns. People from other parts of the state and country order my guns. I have been in the trade for four years.
“I produce local guns and sell to anyone that needs them. I am not interested in what the person uses the gun for. It may be for hunting or for security purposes. I sell the guns to make money to maintain my four wives and pay my children’s school fees.”
Umar further claimed that he was not aware that there was a ban on illegal firearms; saying he would have stopped, if he had such information.mad Abubakar, said 12 dane guns were recovered from the suspects, who he said had confessed to the crime.
In a related development, previously there was a report that Nigerian soldiers, in the quest to maintain internal peace in the country, arrested a suspected gun runner with local guns on his way to meet up with one Damina Saminaka.
In a statement signed by Brigadier-General Sani Kukasheka Usman, it was revealed that the suspect, Mohammed Bello, was apprehended along at Akwanga highway in Nasarawa state.
The suspect confessed that he purchased the weapons from one Dan Asabe Audu, a local blacksmith.
